Wide receiver #11 Kris Kemp out of Sunland Baptist in Freeport, Grand Bahama made a big touch down catch for the 25th ranked Taylor University Trojans in their final game of the season playing in the Mid-Central College Conference.
In an remarkable end to a turnaround season, the Trojans defeated the 11th ranked University of St. Francis Cougars (UFC) 23-16 on Saturday afternoon. The tone of the battle was set early when Taylor's defensive line controlled the line of scrimmage during USF's first two possessions forcing the Cougars to punt each time.
Following the second punt the Trojans started on their own 5-yard line. After moving out to the 18, quarterback Shaun Addison hit Kemp on a slant pass in the middle and Kemp bolted for the end zone covering 82

yards to get Taylor on the scoreboard first 7-0. It was Kemps only catch of the game.
With the score knotted 14-14, the Trojans put nine points on the board and kept the USF offense out of the end zone during the second half to notch the victory
Taylor’s offense converted 9-of-19 third down opportunities while USF managed only 4-of-14.  Addison completed 17-of- 33 for 288 yards and a touchdown, breaking Taylor's individual single season record with 22.
The offensive line allowed just one sack.
The Trojans who wee 2-8 last season improved to 7-3, their best season since 1999.  they had lost seven straight to USF going into the game
At 6'1" 193lbs Kemp is in his junior year at Taylor in Ft. Wayne, Texas and is majoring in Bio-Chemistry. He told the journal Monday that, "It was a great way for us to end the season, because we didn't know our identity early in the season, weather we were a running team or a passing team because we had a few new players, and that probably caused us to lose a few games earlier in the season; but everything started to click about midway through the season and we started to balance off," explained Kemp.
Breaking down how he was able to score on the 82-yards pass play he said, "Going into the game we watched tape of them and noticed they liked to rely on their athleticism on the corners, and sometimes go without a safety. And on the play that I scored, when we lined up I saw them in that formation, and the quarterback and I looked at each other and we were on the same page with a green light."
"When the ball was snapped I ran about two yards before breaking on the slant and the ball was right on time. I caught it in full stride and just out ran the coverage. I didn't know what to do when I got in the end zone, I just stood there until my teammate started to celebrate," said Kemp.
The Trojans ran the same play to another wide receiver for a gain of 30-yards before UFC began to respect their wide receivers and began to use a safety over the top.
"Going into this season we wanted to have a good year for the seniors because many of them experienced one and two win seasons; and so it was a special effort to end the season on a high note for our senior players," Kemp said.
As far as his classes he said everything is going great.
"I've got four classes  this semester, three of them are tough especially the Organic and Bio Chemistry but I have been able to stay on top of them.  The football program here is very supportive they help you with a whole lot, weather it's with classes, trying to get in, or even trying to get citizenship."
Kemp says he will definitely be home in The Bahamas for the Christmas Holidays and that he is craving for a conch salad and conch fritters.
