The Bahamas Swim Federation (BSF) has selected and ratified a 36-member team to compete at the 25th annual Carifta Swimming, Synchronized Swimming, and Water Polo Championships April 3-6 in Kingston, Jamaica. The Bahamas Swim Federation (BSF) has selected and ratified a 36-member team to compete at the 25th annual Carifta Swimming, Synchronized Swimming, and Water Polo Championships April 3-6 in Kingston, Jamaica. Qualified swimmers were selected based on their times earlier this year. The Bahamas will not be represented in synchronized swimming or a water polo. BSF President Algernon Cargill said that decision was based on past performances by The Bahamas' teams. The Bahamas returns several veteran swimmers from a team that finished second in the points standing last year with 691.50 points and collected 18 gold, 17 silver and 14 bronze. "We are on track as the team is matched pretty evenly to last year's team. There are a lot of younger athletes on the team which shows strength in our development program that has over 500 registered swimmers competing," said Cargil. Nearly 20 countries will field teams for the 25th edition of the games including defending champions Aruba along with Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bermuda, The Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guadeloupe, French Guyana, Jamaica, The Netherlands Antilles, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, The Turks and Caicos Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
