Motivated To Move

Many people begin a fitness program with good intentions and strong will, but somewhere in the middle they lose that drive and quit before they reach their fitness goal.

Some beginners have such a great enthusiasm when beginning an exercise program that they often do too much, too soon resulting in soreness and exhaustion leading to lack of motivation.

If you feel this happening to you simply reduce the intensity of your workouts.

Try just three days of exercise a week when beginning until your body is more conditioned, then add more days when you feel you are ready.

Keeping an exercise journal is a great way to track your improvement during your workouts.

By taking note of your weight lifted and the amount of repetitions completed on each day you will clearly be able to see the progress you have made from you started.

Find personal measures of improvement.

Are you feeling better? Are you learning more about yourself? Is your endurance improving?

Keep record of these changes no matter how small they may seem.

You may be eager to start seeing results on the scale or in the mirror. But don’t underestimate the benefits that may not be immediately visible.

Sticking with your plan will yield other rewards such as more energy, less stress, more self-confidence, and better sleep.

Keep record of these changes no matter how small they may seem.

Another way to stay motivated to exercise is to schedule your workouts in advance.

Make appointments with yourself or with a workout buddy for a specific time.

Working out with a friend is not only fun, but will also keep you motivated and make you less likely to skip workouts.

Whenever possible, schedule morning workouts.

You get it out of the way, and you start the day feeling that you've already accomplished something positive for yourself.

Plus, a morning workout can have an energizing effect that lasts for hours.

And even when you feel like doing nothing, do a little.

Many persons will skip a day of exercise because the hour workout seems like too much to accomplish.

On a day when you feel like this, change your goal to twenty to thirty minutes; being consistent is the only way to bring results.

Be sure to make your workout fun many people lose motivation when their workout becomes just another task.

For the ultimate boost in motivation consider hiring a personal trainer who can help you maximize your workout and keep you exited about coming to the gym.
